The combination of a one-day sale and an apparent pent-up demand for a niche vertical program category (programmer’s editor) has placed the freshly released Diet Coda for iPad app at #8 in Apple’s list of top selling iPad apps hours after its release.
I bought my copy and tried it out with my web server (SFTP/SSH). Initial verdict? Wow! Keep an eye out over the next few days for my full review of the app in BYTE.

Gulp. This product has been sitting in my review queue for way too long. And, it is a good one: The Griffin GuitarConnect Pro. This $79.99 product lets you connect an electric guitar to an iPhone or iPad using a standard 1/4-inch guitar cable. Even better, it works great with GarageBand. So, GarageBand for iOS users don’t have to learn to use a new app. How does it compare to the iRig? Stay tuned.

The SLINGSHOT is a Kickstarter project that claims to: Stabilizes smartphone video . . . and more! The testimonials would have you believe this thing works magic and is priced at merely $14. And, to their credit, this product is actually shipping. The PR firm working with the developer asked if I would like to review one. So, I’ve been playing with it for about two weeks. But, I’m still not convinced it works (despite testimonials on its Kickstarter page that indicates I’m wrong). Will play with it another week or so before writing my conclusion.
