I\u2019ve also started testing the new <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/gemini.google\/mac\/\">Gemini Mac OS ap<\/a>p<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which features a convenient global shortcut and the ability to analyze any active window on your desktop. While its Google Photos integration still struggles with &#8220;snout ID&#8221; for pet photos, its local file handling makes it a powerful addition to my daily toolkit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We also tackled the <\/span><b>8GB RAM debate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, finding that the <\/span><b>MacBook Neo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> performs remarkably well for most users because Apple optimizes its OS for its hardware so efficiently. We compared this to the increasingly bloated experience of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/explainers\/ram-reality-check-how-much-memory-does-your-pc-actually-need-in-2026\"><b>Windows 11<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which forces users to have 16GB or more of RAM. Jon shared his experience upgrading to <\/span><b>Google One AI Pro<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to leverage <\/span><b>NotebookLM<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for his university courses, transforming long lectures into concise, AI-generated study materials. He even demonstrated the value of paid AI tiers by building a custom <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/jonwestfall.github.io\/strength-timer.html\"><b>Strength Tempo Trainer<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> web app in just 20 minutes using <\/span><b>Codex<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We discussed the &#8220;AI divide&#8221; comparing free AI tiers to paid ones.
