Randy: Thanks for taking the time help me with this problem. The weather here has been pretty stable. It doesn't seem like a structural issue though I won't rule it out. A hard reset seems to have brought it back to normal. Of course, I have no idea how long this will last.

This may sound strange but has the weather changed a great deal lately? There may be a crack in a cold solder joint on one of the SMD (Surface Mount Devices). For devices that do not generate a lot of internal heat changes in weather like hot or cold and even humidity can cause the crack to grow causing all kinds of problems that can often be very hard to track down.

The problem does not get much better even if you find the defective joint, a regular soldering iron can kill an SMD in Nanoseconds is applied incorrectly.

Activesync annoying? Relatively speaking Cancer is annoying! Osama bin Laden is annoying! Bill Gates deserves life in prison with a 300 pound ex- biker cell mate named "Nerd Lover" as a reward for Activesync. My favorite feature is the way it is designed so that no matter what third party sync software one buys they are still tied to this app from the bowels of hell. Now that Bill has retired from his traditional role as the most vicious predatory capitalist since John D.Rockefeller maybe he can take time out from giving speaches against predatory capitalism and fund a philant ropic effort to fix Activesync.

JG: FYI. I use a passive (unpowered) Targus plastic notebook pad when I want to use a notebook as a "laptop". Reducing the CPU performance can also help keep it cool. But, even with "protection", laptop usage time of an hour or more is if-fy. I use a powered Targus chill unit to keep notebooks cool when using them for long periods on a desk.

JG: You can call whatever you want. There's a reason why notebook PCs are rarely referred to as "laptops" these days. Most, if not all, of them are just to hot to actually place comfortably on a lap. The last notebook I could place comfortably on my lap was the Apple iBook G4. The temperature reported for the D620 is the keyboard side of the chassis as indicated by the comparison of the hotter D600 keyboard palm rest area.

I call BS, I have a Core Duo d620 and it is like a space heater. When running just Firefox and AIM after doing a clean reinstall it scorches my lap. Oftentimes the bottom is so hot that it mildly burns my hands if I touch it. This completely defeats the purpose of it and so it has spent +/- 90% of its life in the docking station because it's so unpleasant to work with as a LAPtop.

I'm not so worried about publication of my phone number as I am about the conversion process. Reminds me of a Jerry Seinfeld episode and the translation of mute signing. I wouldn't lean to heavily on the service if World Peace were at steak, -- er stake.

I am in the same boat. Here is what I recommend. Check out PocketMac. It is another company that has produced software to sync WM6 Blackberries... They are a stand-up group of guys and are currently working on a program that will sync with Entourage 08. You can sign up for an e-mail that notifies you when they release it. So I am just going to wait till either company releases something that works will syncing with Office O8 on a Mac
