Windows Mobile 6 Voice Command Tutorial

Microsoft Voice Command Icon

As far as I can figure Microsoft Voice Command is now in the firmware of Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition (Smartphone) and Professional Edition (Pocket PC Phone Edition) devices. You might recall that my friend Frank McPherson and I had couple of give-and-take blog commentaries on opposing sides of its usefulness (Frank’s Pro, I’m not so keen on it). I guess voice dialing would be useful if it worked consistently. But, where I live, we have a lot of ethnic names (like mine!) that it seems to get confused with. And, I’m not sure how useful mild shouting application commands is compared to just clicking a button or two (especially on Smartphone with a thumb keyboard that can be dealt with one hand). But, if you would like to get the most out of Microsoft Voice Command, head over to Microsoft’s tutorial at…

Is there a procedure to de-install Voice Command 1.6 from my Cingular 8525 and re-install it on my AT&T Tilt?

How do I use voice command to create and open my internet favorites? or to save and open particular documents? I mean, am I asking too much?

When you insert the voice mail address and commands into the address book and assign a voice command, does the voice command hold when you re-sync the contact list? How about assigned speed dial numbers? Do they stick? Or are they trashed when you re-sync?
I’m having problems with the speed dial numbers disappearing when I re-sync my contact list (weekly). Getting tired of re-doing my speed dial list every week…

    John –

John is correct – I have a contact listing called VoiceMail – and I have put my home, mobile and work voicemail numbers in including the pauses and access codes so that I can use voice command and say “Call Voicemail Work” or “Call VOicemail Mobile” and I am connected to the appropriate voicemail system.

    John,
your comment is not correct. Providing that you know you voicemail telephone number, all you have to do is give your voicemail a nickname (i.e. Such as “Voice”). Voice commander will then dial your voicemail number.

I give my most frequently called numbers nicknames. By employing this method, I can make certain that the names are short and easily understood by Voice Commander.

The most common task I do in the car is listen to voice mail. Unfortunately there is no command to dial voicemail – most annoying.
