As far as I can figure Microsoft Voice Command is now in the firmware of Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition (Smartphone) and Professional Edition (Pocket PC Phone Edition) devices. You might recall that my friend Frank McPherson and I had couple of give-and-take blog commentaries on opposing sides of its usefulness (Frank’s Pro, I’m not so keen on it). I guess voice dialing would be useful if it worked consistently. But, where I live, we have a lot of ethnic names (like mine!) that it seems to get confused with. And, I’m not sure how useful mild shouting application commands is compared to just clicking a button or two (especially on Smartphone with a thumb keyboard that can be dealt with one hand). The most common task I do in the car is listen to voice mail. Unfortunately there is no command to dial voicemail - most annoying.

John,
your comment is not correct. Providing that you know you voicemail telephone number, all you have to do is give your voicemail a nickname (i.e. Such as “Voice”). Voice commander will then dial your voicemail number.
I give my most frequently called numbers nicknames. By employing this method, I can make certain that the names are short and easily understood by Voice Commander.

John -
John is correct - I have a contact listing called VoiceMail - and I have put my home, mobile and work voicemail numbers in including the pauses and access codes so that I can use voice command and say “Call Voicemail Work” or “Call VOicemail Mobile” and I am connected to the appropriate voicemail system.
