hello i have a normal windows mobile 5. how can i send a file (music) toanother mobile via bluetooth? i am getting very frustrated. is the only way to do it by sending a txt? someone please help.

Hi I am new and Im trying to sync my ms works calendar with my htc 6800 and im having a hell of a time. I have used the sync on ms works and installed it on the pda but it will not show my calendar. or it will not add anything when i change it on the phone?????

I’m portuguese, so my inglish is not very good.
i have conected my pda to my desktop, it has isntald the program, and i cood use the WMDC.
in the second time i had conected my computer does not open WMDC.
what can i do to solve this problam??

i have WMDC and want to sync my palm treo 700wx via bluetooth. WMDC will not connect to it. My computer finds it, and my phone finds the computer, but WMDC doesn’t find the phone so I cant sync. I’m getting real frustrated!

I have a PDA running on Windows Mobile 5.0 and a PC running on Vista Home Premium. With WMDC I have been able to synchronise these devices perfectly well with Norton Internet Security on my PC. Lately I installed Norman Security Suite on my PC and afterwards I discovered that I no longer could sync with Outlook 2003. In an effort to correct this inconveniency I uninstalled Norman and reinstalled Norton and I also deleted existing partnerships on WMDC. But when I try to establish a new partnership this fails as WMDC does not open automatically any more and it does not seem to recognise that my PDA is connected. I have uninstalled and reinstalled WMDC several times, but this does not change the situation. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to overcome this problem?

I have upgraded to WMDC and now can’t sync my contacts and calendar to my PDA. Media files sync fine and I can manually move anything, but hitting the sync button does nothing. Any body else have this problem?

My home internet connect stinks, so I usually go to my local public library to do large downloads onto a USB memory stick. Unfortunately, I can’t download WMDC because Microsoft assumes that your target computer and your download computer are the same and it tries to do a Vista validation before allowing me to download. This sucks. All I want to do is continue syncing my Pocket PC with my computer. And what is the deal about ending support for anything before Pocket PC 2003? I’ve got news for M$: There are actually people who care about using something for longer than it takes to loose that new smell.

i can’t install mobile device center! it keeps showing message “The update could not be installed beccause at least one Windows component required by Windows Mobile Device Center is missing.” and the installation abborted. now i can’t sync my phone. anyone have been done through this? i’m using vista business edition..

I have 2 PCs running Vista (one Business 32bit and one Ultimate 64bit). I have a laptop (4 years old) running XP Pro. I have such issues syncing media files to my 2125 that I have to use my laptop to send music to the phone. I cant get WMDC to convert ad copy more than MAYBE 4 songs before locking up.

Dan: Thanks for the clarification. I gave on syncing media files, notes, and email years ago on Windows Mobile devices and didn’t parse the comment properly.

Hi Jonathan, I had this problem too. It appears to be down to the version of WM and the Vista Mobile Device Center MS released this hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931621.

I have just updated to the release version of Vista MDC and this has fixed the issue.

Todd, he was referring to the sync with storage card facility through Windows Media Player 11.

Jonathan: ActiveSync does not directly sync to any storage card in a WM device. Were you, perhaps, using a 3rd party add-on like MightySync?

AAARGGG!!!

Just upgraded to Vista, and I am amazed at how all my apps and devices have actually picked right up with the new OS and got to work!

However, my Samsung i730 (Phone/Pocket PC) no longer sync’s to the storage card?! I previously used XP Home, Active Sync 4.5, and the sync method offered through Media Player 11.

Works great due to being able to sync playlists, music, etc. from Media Player to either internal mem, or storage card.

When getting started with the new Mobile Device Center, my storage card no longer shows up in the devices, and I of course can no longer sync to the card.

Anyone else come accross this?

Thanks for the reply Todd. The phone is plugged directly into the USB ports of my laptop; no hubs are being used. None of the 4 USB ports have a different response. Note too that occasionally file transfers work fine – for awhile.

My laptop doesn’t have built-in Bluetooth but I may try to pick up an adapter.

In the end it’s not a big deal, especially since USB 1.1 is too slow to transfer anything of any serious size (I have a 2GB miniSD which would take hours to fill via 1.1). Hence, I usually have to take the miniSD card out of the phone and use a card reader for transfers anyway. It is a hassle, however, when I just want to transfer a CAB file or two, or a quick song or something. Perhaps Bluetooth may be the solution.

Jesse: I still haven’t decided which Windows Mobile Device should be “sacrificed” to test on my Vista box yet. So, you are far ahead of me there. Is your 2125 USB cable connected to a hub or plugged directly into your PC? Most hubs are fine. But, every now and then one turns up that is not providing enough power or has some other glitch. You might also want to try switching toa different USB port on the PC. For example, I’ve found that some USB ports on the front of the PC seem to have more problems than the ones in the back. Finally, if your PC has Bluetooth built-in or you have a USB Bluetooth adapter, trying using ActiveSync over Bluetooth instead of USB.

Hi, great blog you have here, I’ve really enjoyed several of your posts.

I had a quick comment / question about the new WMDC in Vista. I’m running Vista Ultimate with the latest WMDC and I’m having problems syncing with my Cingular 2125 (HTC Faraday) WM5 Smartphone. Actually, the phone is detected and set up fine, no problems to speak of there. But it has this awful habit of randomly disconnecting itself shortly after being connected.

The problem seems worst when I’m trying to manually copy files to the phone (either internal memory or the miniSD storage card) from Explorer. When WMDC connects the phone, Explorer automatically pops up so I can view the files in the phone’s storage. I can navigate without problem, and if I copy a file (a CAB, MP3, whatever) to the phone the transfer begins normally. However, part way through (usually near the beginning) the transfer, a message pops up saying something about the device no longer being connected, and the copy is aborted. I have to unplug the phone, reconnect it, wait an eternity for WMDC to sort everything out and reconnect, and try again. And 9 times out of 10, the problem repeats. Only occasionally does a transfer succeed.

Note that I’ve tried all types of files of various sizes, from a few Kb to several Mb without success. Also, I can sync and copy files fine from another PC using Windows XP and ActiveSync (4.2 I believe?).

Any thoughts on this issue? So far WMDC is NOT inspiring confidence in me! I was excited to try it, as I loathe ActiveStink with a passion, but this seems like another classic MS case of 1 step forward, 2 steps back…
